Sightseeing LKAB – Discover Kiruna and the world's largest underground mine

Join us for a sightseeing tour in Kiruna focusing on LKAB – the city that grows, moves, and transforms right before our eyes. This guided tour takes you from Kiruna’s historical roots to the future of the mining industry.

We begin by exploring Kiruna’s city center and learn about the city’s founder Hjalmar Lundbohm, LKAB’s first managing director, whose vision shaped the entire community. We visit the unique Kiruna Church, one of Sweden’s most beloved wooden buildings, known for its artwork and architecture. During the tour, you’ll also learn about the church’s future and its planned relocation.

The journey continues to the new city hall Kristallen and Kiruna’s emerging new center, where the city’s history meets the future in one of Sweden’s most ambitious urban transformation projects.

The highlight of the tour is a visit to LKAB’s mine in Kiruna, the world’s largest underground iron ore mine. By bus, we descend to the visitor mine 540 meters underground, where you get a unique insight into mining processes – from extraction to refinement. You’ll also learn how LKAB is driving the global transition in the mining and steel industry, with the goal of producing fossil-free sponge iron and extracting critical minerals for the future.
