Enjoy an atmospheric evening of local flavours, Sámi culture and a Northern Lights hunt – the perfect blend of food, stories and Arctic adventure.
The evening begins in our cosy Sámi tent in Poikkijärvi, overlooking the river. Around the open fire, souvas is prepared – a traditional Sámi dish of lightly smoked reindeer, deer and moose, served with vegetables.
While the food is cooking, our guide shares stories of Sámi culture, Lapland’s history and life in northern Sweden. The fire, the aromas and the surrounding nature create a warm, relaxed start to the evening.
After dinner, we set off by minibus to search for the Northern Lights. Our guides choose locations based on the evening’s weather and conditions to give you the best possible chance of seeing the aurora. When it appears, we stop to soak it all in and take photos. Your guide is happy to help with camera settings and tips for capturing the Northern Lights.
